Dr Hajer Derbi
Dr Nikki Liew
Dr Nikki Liew joined the Special Needs Dental Team in 2019. She completed her undergraduate degree and specialist training in SND at the University of Melbourne. She has over 12 years of experience and has worked in a broad range of sectors including public, private and hospital dentistry, domiciliary care and general anaesthetics.
Nikki sees patients at our Blackburn clinic and for home visits. She enjoys taking the time to get to know each of her patients, and working out how to best support their dental health under challenging circumstances. Her clinical interests include neurodegenerative diseases, dental oncology, and interdisciplinary health care.
Nikki is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Special Needs Dentistry (ANZASND), the Australian Society of Special Care in Dentistry (ASSCID), the Disability and Oral Health Collaboration (DOHC) and the Australian Dental Association.
In her spare time, she enjoys salsa, hiking and reading.
Dr Kerrie Punshon
In 2005, Dr Kerrie Punshon became a Registered Specialist in Special Needs Dentistry. She owns and runs the Special Needs Dental Team.
For the past 12 years she has worked in a Private Specialist practice restricted to Special Needs Dentistry. She also has appointments at the Royal Dental Hospital and the University of Melbourne. Dr Punshon’s work is a mixture of clinic work, treatment under General Anaesthetic, and Domiciliary Care.
She enjoys going for walks, travelling, cooking, baking bread and most of all, dentistry
Dr Warren Shnider
Warren joined the Special Needs Dental Team before the practice was established in Blackburn. He attained his specialist qualification in Special Needs Dentistry from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 2006. Warrens works in all areas of SND, but sees patients at our practice through the mobile dental service.
Warren is a committed advocate of oral health for people with special health care needs, and holds several leadership positions in SND in Victoria. He is Head of Unit of the Special Needs Dentistry department at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne, and the Academic Lead in Special Needs Dentistry at La Trobe University. He also holds positions in the Australian Dental Council, the Dental Board of Australia, the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the Australian Dental Association Victorian Branch.
Outside of work, Warren enjoys road cycling, skiing, theatre, walking the dog, and is a member of Scouts Victoria.
General Dentists and Oral Health Therapists
Dr Agam Kaur
Dr. Agam Kaur graduated in 2014 from New Delhi, India. She completed her Australian Dental Council examination in Melbourne.
She has a keen interest in all aspects of general dentistry and finds great joy in helping her patients maintain their healthy smiles. She loves working with children and is able to put the most anxious patients at ease. She believes in keeping abreast with the continuing professional development programmes to help her patients stay at the forefront of what dentistry has to offer.
Apart from English, she is fluent in Punjabi and Hindi.
Outside dentistry, she volunteers for Eternal Charitable Foundation, Australia as a Social Responsibility Professional. Agam is a foodie at heart and loves to spend time doing creative artwork and handicraft.
Dr Catherine Fu
Dr Catherine Fu graduated from La Trobe University. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially managing dental anxiety to help her patients achieve optimal oral health. Special Needs Dentistry has always been her passion, treating everyone with the respect and care they deserve.
Dr Fu is a clinical demonstrator and examiner at the University of Melbourne and La Trobe University. She is an oral health committee member of Australian Dental Association, and a Fellow and committee member of Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. She is an organiser of La Trobe Alumni CPD events. Dr Fu regularly attends CPD courses to further up-skill her clinical knowledge.
Out of work hours, Dr Fu enjoys playing piano, drawing and cooking. She is also involved in the Australian Air League.
Natalie joined the Special Needs Dental Team in 2016. She obtained a Bachelor of Oral Health Science from La Trobe University in Bendigo.
Natalie enjoys working at the Special Needs Dental Team creating great relationships with her patients and providing the best possible patient care. In Natalie’s spare time, she enjoys getting outdoors, cooking and spending time with family.
Paul joined the Special Needs Dental Team in 2009 and had worked in many different roles. He graduated from Deakin University in Commerce and has an Advanced Diploma in Business. He is passionate about Special Needs and finds the job very rewarding.
Paul is a member of Golf, Bowls, Australian Rules Football, Cricket and Rugby Union clubs. He also watches Rugby League, Soccer, Baseball and Tennis.
