Dr Warren Shnider
Dr Kerrie Punshon
In 2005, Dr Kerrie Punshon became a Registered Specialist in Special Needs Dentistry. She owns and runs the Special Needs Dental Team.
For the past 12 years she has worked in a Private Specialist practice restricted to Special Needs Dentistry. She also has appointments at the Royal Dental Hospital and the University of Melbourne. Dr Punshon’s work is a mixture of clinic work, treatment under General Anaesthetic, and Domiciliary Care.
She enjoys going for walks, travelling, cooking, baking bread and most of all, dentistry
Dr Hajer Derbi
Dr Hajer Derbi joined the Special Needs Dental Team in 2017 and sees patients at our Blackburn clinic. Before moving to Australia, Hajer worked for 6 years as in public and private dentistry. She finished her Masters degree at the University of Western Australia where her research focused on oral cancer, and attained her speciality degree in Special Needs Dentistry at the University of Melbourne.
Hajer is passionate about furthering knowledge in SND through teaching and research. She is the Convenor of postgraduate training in Special Needs Dentistry at the University of Melbourne. She is a recipient of the Special Care Dentistry Association Fellowship and the Venus International Healthcare Awards Young Researcher in Special Needs Dentistry Award 2020. Her research has been presented at international conferences and published in national and international peer-reviewed journals.
Her areas of interest are broad and include the oral health of patients with intellectual and physical disabilities, oral health service development, oral health promotion for special needs patients, epidemiology, teaching, dental oncology, osteoradionecrosis and medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws.
Hajer is a member of the Australian Dental Association, the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Special Needs Dentistry (ANZASND) and the Disability and Oral Health Collaboration (DOHC).
She enjoys spending free time with her children.
Dr Nikki Liew
Dr Nikki Liew joined the Special Needs Dental Team in 2019. She completed her undergraduate degree and specialist training in SND at the University of Melbourne. She has over 12 years of experience and has worked in a broad range of sectors including public, private and hospital dentistry, domiciliary care and general anaesthetics.
Nikki sees patients at our Blackburn clinic and for home visits. She enjoys taking the time to get to know each of her patients, and working out how to best support their dental health under challenging circumstances. Her clinical interests include neurodegenerative diseases, dental oncology, and interdisciplinary health care.
Nikki is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Special Needs Dentistry (ANZASND), the Australian Society of Special Care in Dentistry (ASSCID), the Disability and Oral Health Collaboration (DOHC) and the Australian Dental Association.
In her spare time, she enjoys salsa, hiking and reading.
General Dentists and Oral Health Therapists
Natalie joined the Special Needs Dental Team in 2016. She obtained a Bachelor of Oral Health Science from La Trobe University in Bendigo.
Natalie sees patients at our Blackburn clinic, Aged Care Facilities and home visits.
Natalie enjoys working at the Special Needs Dental Team creating great relationships with her patients and providing the best possible patient care.
In Natalie’s spare time, she enjoys getting outdoors, cooking and spending time with family.
Dr Agam Kaur
Dr. Agam Kaur graduated in 2014 from New Delhi, India. She completed her Australian Dental Council examination in Melbourne.
She has a keen interest in all aspects of general dentistry and finds great joy in helping her patients maintain their healthy smiles. She loves working with children and is able to put the most anxious patients at ease. She believes in keeping abreast with the continuing professional development programmes to help her patients stay at the forefront of what dentistry has to offer.
Apart from English, she is fluent in Punjabi and Hindi.
Outside dentistry, she volunteers for Eternal Charitable Foundation, Australia as a Social Responsibility Professional. Agam is a foodie at heart and loves to spend time doing creative artwork and handicraft.
Kerryn joined the Special Needs Dental Team in 2020. She commenced work in the dental industry in 2007 and completed a Certificate III in Dental Assisting in 2009. Kerryn has family members with special needs so she has a special touch with our patients. She loves all aspects of the industry and especially the interaction with patients. She strives to provide as relaxed an experience as possible to all patients.
Outside of work Kerryn enjoys spending time with family, going to the footy, scrapbooking and camping.
Agochar joined the Special Needs Dental Team in 2021.
She enjoys seeing patients in the surgery and nursing homes. Whilst working she tries to boost morale and encourage the patients.
Agochar has great interest in music. She loves to cook for her family and play volleyball in her free time.
Maeve joined the team in 2020 and is an integral part of our team.
She is currently studying a Masters of International Development Practice. Outside of work Maeve has a passion for volunteering, reading and adventure.
Aside from that, you will usually find her with a cup of tea and a smile.
